Of course, many of us still warmly remember those times when CRT TVs were played on the console, yellow or orange cartridges for Dendy, black cartridges for Sega and, of course, they are gamepads joysticks. The retro is back, so it’s worth a little “giving direction” to the joystick functions:
- The START button starts the game, and also turns pause on / off during the game.
- The arrows on the left control the movement while playing, A, B, C buttons control jeneral actions: shooting, jumping, etc.
So, how did it all start?
Around the world, the 6-button controller for the Sega Mega Drive became standard around 1994, officially called 6 Button Arcade Pad, and in Japan – Fighting Pad 6B. And Sega was one of the first to start playing games on laser discs, that is, the era of compact discs began, companies began to develop new systems, and Sega together with JVC released the Sega Mega CD device for the already existing Mega Drive console, speeding up the transition to new technology, although gamers were unhappy with the high price, and the games on the discs were released a little.

However, the first and the Sega Genesis are the same 16-bit console. In Japan, Australia, Brazil and Russia, the prefix is known, loved as the Mega Drive. Korea singled out the most: the game first came out as Super GameBoy, and later Samsung, which publishes Sega, named all its Super Aladdin Boy consoles.
An important thing is that firstly Sega was not associated with Sonic, but with a more brutal character: the werewolf Alterest Beast. A cartridge with this game was sold with a set-top box. But later a bright hero became necessary, who could compete with Mario and become a Sega mascot.

Sonic became just such a character. Sonic is the fastest character in the history of computer games: he can run at the speed of sound. An interesting fact: if you leave him alone for a long time and do not touch the joystick, it rushes off the screen and dies. Sonic does not know how to swim and sinks in water. Its creators thought that hedgehogs do not know how to swim.

Amazingly, Sega was the first to release games for adults. After the release of the “bloody” Mortal Combat in the 90s, human rights activists publicly accused Sega of promoting cruelty. The company found a way out: it created two versions of the game and its own V.R.C. age rating system.
After the era of Playstation, Sega no longer produces new consoles, but fans still write games for it, for example, retro developers NG: DEV.TEAM from Germany are considered to be among the most famous, and WaterMelon Games, who are 6 years old, are considered the most solid they did the game “Pier Solar and the Great Architects” under Mega Drive, a turn-based RPG about wizards.
Sega, what’s new?
A 24-year-old game for DICE from Sega Genesis will be released in 2019. Hardcore is even being developed on the original SDK for the Genesis platform. Apparently, the developers decided to take advantage of the current heightened interest in the retro theme and pixel art to revive their project that has not seen the light.
Due to the fans activity, Sega is still “alive”

Now Sega has become popular again in the wake of nostalgia for the 90th, 16-bit graphics, music and games. Prefixes now let out other plants continuing traditions of Mega Drive. They are exactly the same as the old Sega and even work with cartridges from old consoles. This is a great gift for those who played in their childhood, and they are more cheaper than the current Xbox One and Playstation 4.
So now publisher ratings are growing. Quite recently, it was introduced a racing arcade Team Sonic Racing. Did you miss? It combines the best elements of arcades with the races. – Skate and teamworking to exchange different speed boosters. Players will be able to fully control their racing style, choosing between 3 different characters and unlocking the unique settings of the cars.

As well as the Japanese role-playing game Shining Resonance Refrain is going to celebrate the grandiose return of the series to the West very soon, in connection with which Sega has demonstrated a large number of gameplay versions for PlayStation 4.
All in all, no one forgot what a game console is. On the contrary, fans eagerly read the news of updates and still waiting for the continuation of the classic retro games from Sega.
